Navigating new traffic patterns in the Epic Universe neighborhood

New infrastructure enhances connectivity, traffic flow around Universal Orlando Resort

ORLANDO, Fla. – Hotels, dining, an affordable housing community, a world-class thoroughfare — all things that come with building a major theme park in Orlando.

Ahead of the grand opening of Epic Universe on May 22, Orange County opened its new north-to-south corridor that connects Universal Orlando Resort’s main campus to its fourth theme park.

In the weeks leading up to the opening, aerials had shown activity on the elevated flyover circle, specifically bus testing. The circle provides a traffic flow, allowing drivers to have direct access between Kirkman Boulevard and Epic Boulevard, thereby bypassing the intersection at ground level.

While the flyover is an eye-catching landmark, it’s not the only new traffic circle in the area. Guests entering the Epic Universe parking area will have to navigate a roundabout just north of the intersection at Epic Boulevard and Destination Parkway.

There’s also a new traffic roundabout at Carrier Drive at Lakehurst Drive, and changes have been made to the intersection at Carrier Drive and Universal Boulevard.

As for pedestrian traffic, a walking path from Universal Stella Nova Resort to Epic Universe is open for guests.
