A front is trying to sink southward across our area supported by a powerful jet stream and a pretty decent slug of cooler air just to the north of where the front is draped now. As we move through tonight into your Sunday, that front should start to kick on down towards the south. While doing so, we could see some heavier bouts of rain in some spots and potential stray strong storms.

Heavy rains continue for Central Florida, especially over the eastern side of our viewing area. These bouts of very dense rains have prompted National Weather Service to issue a flash flood warning, an upgrade to their Aerial flood advisories issued earlier this morning.

With the area of interest off our east coast combining with upper level influence in the form of a ball of energy off our western shores, the rains are really cranking across our area. We're thinking this could add some time to your morning and especially afternoon commutes tomorrow, with a more widespread threat of heavier rains spreading into your Thursday.

Central Florida has been buried in clouds and blanketed by rain the last few days leading up to the Mother's Day holiday.

An area of low pressure formed over the northern border of the Gulf coast and pushed inland overnight this morning. Now, Central Florida finds itself beneath the favorable quadrant of the storm system to produce massive rains and lots of thunderstorms.

A gnarly storm system is likely to start building as we wander through this weekend and especially early next week, kickstarting what could be the first significant severe weather outbreak welcoming the intro of tornado season. But how much of the serious weather will make it down to our viewing area?
