Students with a water gun forced officials at Winter Springs High School to put the school on a brief Code Red on Monday afternoon, according to a news release.

The Winter Springs Police Department announced Friday that it was searching for a missing 15-year-old boy.

Deputies said that an investigation began after reports came in about an “inappropriate relationship” between the teacher — Lucas Cridlebaugh, 25 — and the teen.

A student was arrested Thursday after Winter Springs High School was placed on a code red lockdown amid a shooting scare during which the campus was secured and no injuries were reported, officials said.

Students in the academy’s Emergency Response Planning program analyze that data and make forecasts for campus activities ranging from sporting events and practices to the changing of classes.

Seminole County leaders are helping people feel safe during the holidays by offering free COVID-19 at home test kits.

Eight hundred appointments quickly filled up for a vaccination event at Winter Springs High School on Saturday, the first event targeted to younger age groups according to Seminole County officials.

So, the first thing we’re asking is that the school district recognize their accomplishments as educators, as civil rights, and apologize for firing them back in 1946,” Colucci said. According to the Brevard County School district superintendent, they’re welcoming the idea of including the Moores’ legacy in the school curriculum, starting at the fourth-grade level.

Winter Springs High School teacher Jenn Devine spoke as a representative of the Seminole Education Association at the Seminole County School Board meeting Tuesday night. “The school board is not listening to us,” Devine said at the school board meeting. She said many teachers are tired and overwhelmed, especially those teaching both Seminole Connect and face-to-face at the same time. “We know it’s very difficult for the teachers, the ones that are teaching the hybrid, face-to-face and Connect,” he said. In the meantime, the Seminole Education Association is hoping to suggest ideas to get teachers to teach either purely in person or purely on Seminole Connect.

The DOH said the sites will reopen when it is safe to do so.

APOPKA, Fla. Two Central Florida counties are increasing coronavirus testing after the state reported a surge in positive cases over the last week. Early Monday, testing began in Orange County at the Farmworker Association near Apopka and outside Winter Springs High School in Seminole County. Both Seminole and Orange County reported dozens of new cases Monday. Seminole County saw an increase by 96 positive cases Monday and Orange County reported 243 new cases. Now, what weve seen basically concurrent with the rise of cases has been a decline in the median age of the people who are testing positive, DeSantis said.
