SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – Seminole County was one of eight counties in the state selected for a pilot program that has workers distributing the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine at the Oviedo Mall this week. “We are the first county in the state to do this, and to have this vaccine site, open to the public,” Seminole County Chairman Lee Constantine said. He told News 6 Seminole County was selected and that it received 8,100 doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. Jeff Wray said he’s one of those scheduled to get the COVID-19 vaccine at the Oviedo Mall. Seminole County, as well as other Central Florida county leaders, are working with the Florida Division of Emergency Management to expedite vaccine distribution to more of their residents.

OVIEDO, Fla. – Seminole County health leaders announced they will begin administering the coronavirus vaccine to people over the age of 65 beginning on Monday. People who do not live in Seminole County also qualify for these doses but everyone must make an appointment. “This is for all of Central Florida, Seminole County just happens to be one of the pilot programs, Orange County right now is doing a dry run like we did last week right now at the convention center so we assume Orange County will probably be open pretty soon and other counties will follow suit very shortly,” Seminole County Emergency Manager Alan Harris said.
