OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – A semitruck driver was who was critically injured in a June 20 fiery crash on the Florida Turnpike died at the hospital on Sunday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 2:10 a.m. in the southbound lanes near mile marker 246 in Kissimmee.

According to a crash report, a 24-year-old Virginia man was driving a semitruck in the inside lane when he drifted into the outside lane and hit the back of another semitruck that was driven by a 44-year-old Miami man.

The crash caused the Virginia man to lose control and overturn before it became engulfed in flames.
The driver was able to get out of the semi and was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center.
The other driver was uninjured and remained on-scene.
The case is now being assigned to a traffic homicide investigator, FHP said.
