Troopers said two vehicles were traveling north on John Young Parkway when one of them, a 2024 Mazda CX-30, slowed down for traffic. A 2016 Hyundai Veloster traveling behind the Mazda failed to slow down and crashed into the back of it before swerving into the southbound lanes, the FHP said.

The Hyundai went into the path of an oncoming 2020 Ford F-250, which struck the right side of the Hyundai, troopers said.

The Hyundai driver, whose name has not been released, was taken Osceola Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the FHP.

The Mazda driver, a 17-year-old Kissimmee girl, was not injured. The driver of the Ford F-250, a 62-year-old Orlando man, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, a crash report stated.

All southbound lanes and the inside northbound lane were blocked on John Young Parkway, but the roadway was full reopened just before 11 a.m.

An investigation is ongoing.
