Bushnell man, 21, killed in crash with tree in Sumter County, troopers say

SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. – A 21-year-old man from Bushnell was killed in a crash with a tree early Sunday in Sumter County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 12:53 a.m. as the man traveled northbound on County Road 616 in a Ford Taurus, troopers said.

According to a preliminary FHP crash report, the man didn’t stop when he reached C.R. 616′s intersection with County Road 48. It’s unknown why the man didn’t stop, the report states.

The vehicle continued through the intersection and struck a tree, according to FHP. The man died at the scene, troopers said.
