It happened around 5:50 a.m. on County Road 475, north of County Road 466, troopers said.

According to a preliminary FHP crash report, the man — described as 62 years old and from Ocala — was walking along the roadway shoulder and attempting to cross when he entered the vehicles’ path, both of which were traveling northbound on C.R. 475.

The man was struck by the pickup truck and the sedan in successive order, the report states, adding he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The drivers of the pickup truck and the sedan — identified as a 39-year-old Summerfield man and a 35-year-old man from The Villages, respectively — did not suffer injuries in the crash and both came to a controlled stop, according to FHP.
