TITUSVILLE, Fla. – A so-called “Super Speeder” was arrested on Tuesday after a high-speed traffic stop in Brevard County.

According to a probable cause affidavit, a Brevard County deputy was conducting stationary radar enforcement along I-95 and State Road 46 near Titusville when he observed a blue BMW speeding in the left lane.

The vehicle was estimated to be going 90 mph in a 70 mph zone. The patrol car’s radar confirmed the speed at 94 mph. As the deputy moved to intercept, the BMW accelerated further, reaching 111 mph while passing other drivers, the sheriff’s office said.

The driver, identified as Yehya Ramzi from Bronx, New York, was stopped on the shoulder of I-95. Ramzi was arrested for dangerous excessive speed under Florida’s “Super Speeder” law and transported to the Brevard County Jail without incident.

On Wednesday, Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey posted on social media about Ramzi’s arrest.

“There is absolutely no reason to be driving 111 mph anywhere, much less on a congested highway during the holidays and busiest travel time of the year,” said Ivey.

HB 351, the “Super Speeder” law that took effect July 1, established a new criminal offense under a state statute labeled “dangerous excessive speeding.”

The law targets drivers who go at least 50 mph over the speed limit or who speed at 100 mph or more in a way that threatens the people or property around them.
