COCOA, Fla. – A 29-year-old Cocoa man was killed early Thursday in a hit-and-run crash that prompted the closure of Interstate 95 in Brevard County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The fatal wreck happened around 3:35 a.m. on I-95 north near State Road 528.
The FHP said a vehicle, possibly a semitrailer, was traveling north on I-95 and struck a pedestrian, who was walking south on the northbound paved shoulder.

According to an FHP crash report, the vehicle veered onto the shoulder and struck the man, who died at the scene.
Troopers said the vehicle did not stop and parts were located at the scene, leaving investigators to believe it was possibly a red semitrailer that should now have damage to its right front bumper and right turn indicator.
All northbound lanes were closed in the area after the wreck, but the interstate was reopened about two hours later.
Anyone with information about this crash is asked to call FHP at *347 or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
