The woman reported the shooting and cooperated with investigators, saying there were past incidents of domestic violence that weren’t reported, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies said the woman told them her husband choked and hit her several times, which prompted her to pull a gun from her purse and fire at him multiple times.

The husband was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said.

Officials said the woman was transported to a hospital for treatment after complaining of a jaw injury.

The investigation is ongoing but at this point, the woman has not been charged, deputies said.
