VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Two men have been accused in two separate cases of child sex abuse, the Volusia Sheriff’s Office said Thursday. Deputies said Jacob Bloom, 32, of Orange City, and Daniel Tillis, 76, of DeBary, were both arrested in the unrelated cases. According to a report, Bloom is accused of sexual abuse of a 6-year-old girl over several years. Detectives said while investigating Tillis, two other adult victims came forward reporting that Tillis sexually abused them when they were children. Troopers: Man walking in lanes of U.S. 1 in Volusia County hit, killed by truck
VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A man who troopers say was walking in the lanes of U.S. Highway 1 in Volusia County was hit and killed by a truck early Monday morning. Troopers said the man was not in a marked crosswalk when he walked into the northbound lanes directly in the path of a 2017 Chevy Silverado north of I-95. Investigators said the driver of the truck was not injured and remained on the scene. The medical examiner’s office is working to identify the man. Troopers said the crash remains under investigation.

Volusia County deputies said Jason Zeak, 35, and Andrea Shearin, 31, are each charged with one count of lewd or lascivious molestation, one count of lewd or lascivious exhibition and one count of child abuse. ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — An Orange County sexual predator, who’s been in and out of prison and jail since the 1980s on various charges related to exposing himself, was arrested again last week. He was arrested in 2019 in Volusia County, in Orange County in 2020, in Ocoee last month and again last week. WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said the recidivism rate for people involved in these kinds of crimes is high. He was arrested in November after witnesses said he was sitting on a sign outside Burger King in Ocoee exposing himself. After getting out of jail, he was arrested on a similar incident from earlier in the year outside a coin laundry business in Orange County.

Off-duty Central Florida sheriff’s deputy arrested for DUI
VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — An off-duty Volusia County sheriff’s deputy was arrested in Seminole County and charged with driving under the influence. Florida Highway Patrol troopers pulled over Volusia County Deputy Julia Curtin Saturday at around 11:30 p.m. on Interstate 4, near State Road 46, due to her driving pattern. Instead, they got a warrant to search the home which yielded several guns and rounds of ammunition that were ultimately seized.
