“It’s our highlighted event of the year for all of our 50 and 60 plus professionals,” APP Founder Ken Herrmann said. “Pictona has got to be one of the best facilities in all of the U.S.”
Pros are competing for a share of $75,000, which is the largest-ever prize purse for the AARP Champions and Masters Divisions.
“It’s a great partnership because at AARP we really celebrate the vibrancy of aging,” AARP Florida Director of Operations Dionne Polite said. “This allows people to see themselves. To see the opportunities that exist and pickleball is it.”
The AARP Champions Cup is one of five APP Signature Events, featuring new formats designed to give professional and amateur players more opportunities to compete and earn prize money in 2024.
“Pickleball has no age limit, whether you’re five years old or 55-the sport is always welcoming,” Hermann said. “We are proud to continue our support and advocacy for pickleball players of all ages and skill levels.”
Tickets for the 2024 AARP U.S. Champions are available on SITickets.com. Kids ages 12 and under can enter for free with a parent or guardian.
