Lightning may be cause of large brush fire in Volusia County, firefighters say

No homes, businesses are threatened

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – Lightning is suspected to have caused a large brush fire in northwest Volusia County, though crews are still investigating.

A spokesperson for Volusia County Fire said two fires are burning in the Pierson and Seville areas, covering a combined 300 acres. The fires are still being contained.

There are also several smaller fires burning nearby.

The fires are in the area of Nine Mile Point Road, just east of Lake George.

No structures are threatened by the fires and no one has been hurt.
