VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A Volusia County man on Wednesday claimed the $15 million top prize he won from a Florida Lottery scratch-off game.

John Eichinger Jr., 53, of Port Orange, bought the winning “$15,000,000 GOLD RUSH MULTIPLIER” ticket from a Wawa at 1031 Dunlawton Avenue, which will recieve a $30,000 bonus commission for selling the big winner, according to a news release from Florida Lottery.

The $30 that Eichinger spent on the ticket has since turned into nearly $9 million, as the 53-year-old chose to walk away with a one-time, lump-sum payment of $8,968,000 at Florida Lottery’s headquarters in Tallahassee, the release states.

According to Florida Lottery, the scratch-off game that Eichinger played features four top prizes of $15 million and six prizes of $1 million among over $489 million in total cash prizes.

The overall odds of winning “$15,000,000 GOLD RUSH MULTIPLIER” are 1-in-2.60, the release states.
