Upon arrival, deputies met with a representative from the Department of Forestry, who allegedly witnessed Amanda Clark, 34, setting multiple fires in the woods behind the residence, the arrest report states.

The forestry employee stated that while he was conducting a controlled burn in the area, he observed Clark, along with an unidentified female, igniting fires. He then attempted to intervene and extinguish one of the fires while capturing video evidence of Clark’s actions, deputies said.

At the time of her arrest, Clark was found near a transient camp, “acting erratically,” deputies said.

Clark was booked into the Orange County Jail and faces charges related to the unlawful burning of land, with a bond set at $2,500.

Under the burn ban, residents are prohibited from all outdoor burning unless a permit has been issued. This includes recreational activities such as campfires, ceremonial bonfires, outdoor fireplaces, and open flame heating devices. Additionally, the burning of yard waste, debris, trash, and any other materials is not allowed.
