63-year-old woman struck, killed in Marion County hit-and-run, FHP says

Crash occurred on U.S. 441 near SE 135th Street

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian.

According to a crash report, an unknown vehicle was traveling northbound in the inside lane of U.S. 441 approaching SE 135th Street around 4 a.m. Saturday. The vehicle struck a 63-year-old female pedestrian from Cleveland, Ohio, who was reportedly in the inside lane of travel.

The pedestrian was found deceased at the scene by a passerby, and the vehicle involved fled the scene, troopers said.

Troopers ask anyone with information about the incident or the fleeing vehicle to contact them immediately.

No other injuries were reported.
