ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – Twenty residents were displaced from their homes early Wednesday when a fire broke out at an apartment complex in Seminole County, officials said.
The fire was reported at 2:17 a.m. at The Edge at Lake Lotus apartments off State Road 434 in Altamonte Springs.
The Seminole County Fire Department said the fire started in a wall of a rear stairwell between the first and second floors.
Fire officials said the fire was contained to the stairwell, but 16 units suffered damage from smoke and water. Power was turned off to the apartments, too, SCFD said.

No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is not known.
SCFD said Altamonte Springs Emergency Management is assisting the displaced residents.
