‘The Midnight Stalker:’ Mystery surrounds masked person leaving wood, money on Florida front porches

Flagler deputies seek to ID person recorded in Palm Coast

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – Flagler County deputies are attempting to identify a masked person who was seen leaving various items at the front door of multiple homes in Palm Coast, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office said multiple residents in the R-Section of Palm Coast reported the “suspicious incidents,” which included the “male suspect” leaving a piece of wood and/or a dollar bill.

A total of seven incidents were reported from Nov. 12-17 on Ryan Drive, Ryberry Drive, Rybar Lane and Ryecliffe Drive, according to the sheriff’s office.

News 6 spoke with a family in the area, who said they received two pieces of wood on separate occasions. When they received a piece of wood the second time, it included a message that said, “The Midnight Stalker is coming for Palm Coast.”

News 6’s Mike Valente spoke to Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly Friday about the investigation into these incidents.

“The guy’s a jerk obviously,” Staly said.

Staly said while there is no indication the person is violent, he wants to ensure nothing escalates.

“We want it to stop,” Staly said. “It’s unnerving for our community.”

Staly said the person could be facing potential charges of trespassing, loitering and prowling, and littering.

The sheriff’s office said the person was seen wearing a dark blue “ESSENTIALS” hoodie, matching sweatpants and a black mask in each incident.

“At this time, there is no known threat to the public. However, detectives are investigating the incidents to identify the subject,” sheriff’s officials said.

Anyone who locates an item left by the individual is asked to leave it alone and contact the non-emergency number at 386-313-4911.
