ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – A man is facing felony charges after he stabbed another man during a fight in Ormond Beach, and the victim fought back, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies responded to the scene on Avenue A Friday morning, where they found the victim suffering from deep stab wounds to his arm and chest. The victim told deputies he had fought back, taking the knife from his attacker and stabbing him in self-defense. Using a suspect and vehicle description provided by the victim, deputies issued a BOLO for the suspect’s vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.
The Daytona Beach Police Department spotted the vehicle almost immediately. The suspect, Edward O’Conner, 48, was taken into custody without incident during a felony traffic stop and then transported to the hospital for treatment.
Investigators said O’Conner stabbed the victim due to an ongoing feud involving the victim and O’Conner’s father. O’Conner is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and burglary with battery.
At last check, both men remained in stable condition at the hospital.
