ORLANDO, Fla. – Hey Insiders! Welcome to this week’s News 6 Weather Newsletter! We’ve been enjoying crisp mornings and comfortably warm afternoons across Central Florida as we inch closer to winter on Dec. 21. And if you’ve noticed the sky looking extra blue lately — you’re not imagining it!

Hi there, meteorologist Michelle Morgan here. Cold fronts don’t just bring rain, storms and cooler air. They also help clear out the atmosphere, leaving us with those deep, vibrant blue skies we love this time of year. The science is simple: cooler, drier air means clearer skies.

In the summer, Florida’s humid air scatters sunlight in all directions, creating that hazy or washed-out sky. But once drier air settles in during the cooler season, the sky naturally looks crisper and richer in color.
