Bowles struggled a bit more as Tampa Bay won just eight games to become the fourth division winner in NFL history with a losing record. Bridgewater made the start Sunday in place of Tua Tagovailoa, who is in the concussion protocol for the second time this season. Miami led 14-10 in the third quarter and faced third-and-15 when Bridgewater threw into traffic looking for receiver Trent Sherfield. Bridgewater entered the medical tent for evaluation after the interception and was replaced by Skylar Thompson for Miami’s next series. Bridgewater was 12 of 19 for 161 yards and a touchdown pass.

The NFL and NFLPA announced the findings of a joint review into the Dolphins' handling of Tagovailoa's latest concussion, which put him in the protocol for a second time this year.

Allen Lazard was fined by the league for taunting the three Dolphins players he knocked them to the turf during a block that sprung Aaron Jones for a touchdown.

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Allen Lazard was heralded by quarterback Aaron Rodgers as a "hall of famer" this off-season. The wideout made a legendary block in a Week 16 win over the Dolphins where he took down three defenders at the same time. Lazard wasn’t flagged, but was reportedly fined $10,609 for taunting according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — (AP) — Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa sustained his second concussion of the season in last week’s loss to Green Bay, Miami coach Mike McDaniel confirmed Wednesday. Tagovailoa met with doctors Monday afternoon and was placed into the NFL's concussion protocol after reporting symptoms. He entered the concussion protocol in September after taking a scary hit that knocked him unconscious during Miami’s game at Cincinnati. He appeared to show concussion symptoms but was evaluated and stayed in the game, drawing criticisms of why he was allowed to return. The NFL later changed its concussion protocol to mandate that any player who shows possible concussion symptoms — including a lack of balance or stability — sit out the remainder of a game.

The Chargers (7-6) moved into position for the final AFC playoff berth, ahead of the New York Jets. The Chargers held Miami to 219 yards despite not having safety Derwin James, cornerback Bryce Callahan and defensive lineman Sebastian Joseph-Day because of injuries. Cameron Dicker kicked three field goals, including one from 29-yards that gave the Chargers a 23-14 advantage with 2:40 remaining. On second-and-4 from the Miami 41, Wilson fumbled while tackled by Chargers safety Alohi Gilman during a 6-yard gain.

Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said that Tua Tagovailoa's on field success this season is far from a surprise to him because he's seen the work the quarterback has put in.

Halfway through the 2022 season it appears NFL defenses have finally started catching up. The 21.8 points per game average through nine weeks is the lowest at this stage of the season since 2010, when teams averaged 21.7 points per game. Scoring is down a staggering 3.5 points per game from this point two years ago when offenses peaked in partly empty stadiums due to the pandemic, and 1.6 points per game from last season. There have also been only nine games this season when the losing team scored at least 30, down from 21 at this point in 2020. The average point differential per game of 9.4 points is the lowest through nine weeks in the Super Bowl era.

Halfway through the 2022 season it appears NFL defenses have finally started catching up.

The passing game lacks a counterpunch with Amari Cooper being extremely volatile based on where the game is played.

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — (AP) — Tua Tagovailoa got the Dolphins off to a fast start in his return from a concussion, and Miami held on throughout a scoreless second half to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 16-10 on Sunday night. The Dolphins (4-3) snapped a three-game skid that began on Sept. 29, when Tagovailoa was concussed in a loss at Cincinnati. But the Dolphins intercepted rookie Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett twice in the closing minutes to seal it. The Dolphins punted again and Pickett drove the Steelers to the Miami 25 with 25 seconds left. Tagovailoa finished 21 of 35 for 261 yards and an 8-yard touchdown pass to Raheem Mostert on the Dolphins’ opening drive.

Starter Tua Tagovailoa is still in the concussion protocol and is “not ready to take the step to do football stuff,” McDaniel said. Bridgewater’s perceived stumble triggered the “ataxia” term, causing him to immediately be put in the concussion protocol. He was stretchered off the field and taken to a hospital and remains in the concussion protocol.

The Dolphins said Tagovailoa had a head injury and was questionable to return. After getting up, Tagovailoa jogged forward a few steps then stumbled to the ground again briefly. After releasing the ball, Tagovailoa got hit — a two-hand push in the chest — by Buffalo linebacker Matt Milano. After further evaluation, the Dolphins escorted Tagovailoa through the tunnel toward the locker room.

The Chiefs will get the Dolphins' first- and second-round picks along with their fourth-rounder in this year's draft, and fourth- and sixth-round picks next year, the person told the AP on condition of anonymity because terms were not announced. Hill's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said the next extension from Miami includes $72.2 million guaranteed.
