ORLANDO, Fla. -- UCF will officially join the Big 12 on July 1 and ahead of their first football season in the conference, the Big 12 has released the schedule. After playing Kent State, Boise State (on the road) and Villanova to open the season, the Knights play their inaugural Big 12 game September 23 at Kansas State. The following week, UCF hosts Baylor in its first Big 12 home game on September 30 in Orlando. JUST IN: @UCF_Football will open its first Big 12 season at Kansas State on September 23. ORLANDO, Fla. -- UCF has announced the hiring of Darin Hinshaw as its new offensive coordinator. Head coach Gus Malzahn also announced that Hinshaw will call the plays for the Knights as they get set to join the Big 12. He spent 2021 as an analyst for the Knights and this season, he spent his time as UAB’s offensive coordinator. Under his direction, the Blazers set program records for total yards, rushing yards, yards per game and rushing yards per game. The Blue Devils (9-4) have won four consecutive bowl games, although this was their first appearance in one since 2018. After taking the lead on a short field goal, the Blue Devils recovered a fumble by Plumlee at their own 42. The Blue Devils reached nine wins in a season for the seventh time and first since 2014. John Rhys Plumlee was sacked a Military Bowl record six times and finished with 203 total yards and one interception in the loss. Jaquez Moore scored the opening touchdown and the Blue Devils opened up a 23-7 lead entering the fourth quarter. Isaiah Bowser scored his second rushing touchdown of the game in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 23-13. Duke sealed the win late in the fourth quarter with Riley Leonard’s 33rd touchdown of the season.

After losing to Tulane in the team’s final AAC championship game, the UCF football team is set to go bowling in Annapolis Maryland later this month in the Military Bowl for the first time in program history. The Military bowl will benefit the USO and Patriot Point which is the Military Bowl Foundations retreat for ill and wounded service members along with their families and caregivers. The bowl game will also mark the first time the Knights will face Duke on the football field in program history and second time the UCF has faced a current ACC opponent in a bowl game after the Knights lost to NC State in the 2014 St. Petersburg Bowl. ORLANDO, Fla. -- As a 16.5-point favorite, UCF lost a Senior Day stunner to Navy 17-14 Saturday afternoon at the Bounce House. With a win, the Knights could’ve locked up a spot in the American Athletic Conference title game, but they laid an egg against a 3-7 team. Navy won with 248 rushing yards and zero yards through the air. UCF could still play in the AAC title game, but they will have to travel if they earn a trip. Game times and broadcast options are set for what may be UCF’s final War on I4 matchup against in-state rival USF on this year’s Thanksgiving weekend. After a six-game winning streak, the UCF Women’s Soccer team have won their fourth American Athletic conference regular season championship after a defeating the Houston Cougars 1-0 Sunday. The Knights are left the American Athletic conference Sunday, the same way they entered it, as Champions. With the goal Scott now has nine goals for the season and has scored six goals and added three assists since returning to the team against Temple earlier this month. For the second time this week, the game between UCF and SMU has been moved due to Hurricane Ian. The game will now be played Wednesday, Oct. 5, in Orlando.

The American Athletic Conference announced that Saturday’s home football matchup of UCF vs SMU will be moved to Sunday Oct. 2 due to the projected impact of hurricane Ian. The AAC announced that the kick off time of the Knights’ conference opener will be changed to 1 p.m. and that broadcast coverage will be on an ESPN family of Networks and will be announced at a later date. McKenzie Milton is one of the greatest players in UCF history. Now, the quarterback who led the Knights to unprecedented heights is one of the program’s biggest cheerleaders.

Scott Frost, who led the UCF football team to a perfect season in 2017, was fired today from Nebraska, the team he left the Knights for. “Scott has poured his heart and soul into the Nebraska Football program both as a quarterback and head coach, and I appreciate his work and dedication. The change will make Joseph the first black head coach in school history. Frost then proceeded to leave the Knights in 2018 to return to his alma mater Nebraska to head coach the cornhuskers in the Big 10 Conference. Next up, Nebraska will take on the number six ranked Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday at 12 p.m. in the team’s first game without the former UCF head coach.

After leading the Cardinals going into the 3rd quarter, the Knights fell flat offensively, with Louisville redshirt senior quarterback Malik Cunningham leading a comeback 20-14 victory over UCF at home Friday night. The UCF men’s basketball team announced they will compete in the 28th annual AutoNation Orange Bowl Basketball Classic on December 17, 2022, where they will take on the Missouri Tigers. The UCF Knights Baseball team had a historic day, as three players were taken by big league teams on the second day of the MLB Draft, the most taken in a draft since 1998. SS Alex Freeland, LHP Hunter Patteson and RHP Connor Staine were taken by the Los Angeles Dodgers, Kansas City Royals and Colorado Rockies respectively in the first five rounds of the 2022 MLB Draft. During his tenure as a Knight, Freeland had a batting average of .285 and collected 18 homers, 75 RBI and 103 hits overall. Playing in only one season with the Knights, Staine pitched a 1.87 ERA striking out 51 batters. With three more Knights drafted this year, the UCF Baseball program has now had 114 players drafted by MLB teams.
