ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. โ A new pilot program is launching in Orange County next week. Leaders said community canvassers will go door-to-door in neighborhoods to help more people get the COVID-19 vaccine. County officials said the concern is that some communities donโt have proper access to a vaccination site or may not have enough information. The goal of the program is to have trusted members of the community help get eligible individuals vaccinated inside their homes. AdOrange County Commissioner Mayra Uribe said that the county is actively seeking ways to increase the outreach to neighborhoods where vaccination numbers are low.

Two Orange County commissioners made a call to action to the Hispanic and Latino communities in an effort to change the statists when it comes to the 2020 U.S. Census. โJust 1970 is when the census actually started counting Hispanics but what we noticed over the years is traditionally African Americans and Hispanic communities are undercounted,โ Mayra Uribe, Orange County Commissioner for District 3 said. Orange County government said while people are focused on their jobs, health, and families, they need to be reminded of the importance of responding to the 2020 U.S. census. Orange County government set up seven computer kiosks inside seven different community centers in the county. Orange County approves plan to use $20M in CARES Act money to fund eviction diversion program
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. In a unanimous vote on Tuesday, the Orange County Board of Commissioners approved a plan to use $20 million in CARES Act money to fund a new program aimed at helping those who are struggling financially as a result of the coronavirus pandemic avoid eviction. Demings said the program would be started using $20 million in federal CARES Act money and would assist both renters and landlords. Orange County District 3 Commissioner Mayra Uribe said the board voted unanimously during a meeting on Tuesday to approve the funding for the Orange County COVID-19 Eviction Diversion Program. According to a post on the commissioners Facebook page, Orange County will pay up to $4,000 and the landlord agrees to waive any remainder. In order to qualify for the program, the tenant must be an Orange County resident in imminent danger of eviction.
