Bicyclist in critical condition after hit-and-run in DeLand

Crash happened on U.S. 17 south of Glenwood Road

DELAND, Fla. – A vehicle struck and critically injured a bicyclist in Volusia County before leaving the scene on Monday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened around 3:14 a.m. on U.S. 17, south of Glenwood Road in DeLand.

According to the FHP, after striking the bicyclist, the vehicle drove away.

The person on the bike, identified as a 43-year-old DeLand man, was taken to Halifax Health Medical Center and is listed in critical condition.
