TRAFFIC ALERT: I-95 closed in Volusia after man killed in rear-end crash

Drivers can use US-1 as alternate route

EDGEWATER, Fla. – A man was killed late Monday when his car crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer on Interstate 95 in Volusia County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The fatal crash happened around 11:25 p.m. on I-95 north near mile marker 241 in Edgewater.

All lanes of I-95 north are closed, and vehicles are being forced off the interstate at Deering Parkway.

The FHP said the man was driving a 2025 Hyundai Sonata in the center lane of I-95 north and failed to stop for a semitrailer, striking the back of the vehicle.

The car driver was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

The big rig driver, a 50-year-old Yulee man, was not injured and stayed at the scene, according to the FHP.

As of 6:15 a.m. Tuesday, I-95 north was still closed. Drivers can use U.S. 1 as an alternate route.
