As of Sunday, a Winter Storm Watch has been issued as far south as Alachua and even inland Putnam and Clay counties.
This is pretty close to our northern counties in Central Florida, but for now the potential for snow and ice remains over northern portions of the state.
Parts of North Florida near Pensacola may see accumulated snowfall greater than 3 inches, according to the National Weather Service.
[PINPOINT WEATHER: Freezing temperatures, very cold wind chills on tap for parts of Central Florida]
Probabilities now stand at roughly 40-60% at at least an inch of snow on Wednesday morning, which the NWS said would become a “significant event” for that area.
According to the NWS, if three inches of snow occurs at Pensacola International Airport, it would mark the highest accumulating event since the late 1800s!
Probabilities have pushed further to the south over the past couple days, with best probabilities lining up around the I-10 corridor.
