Central Florida, the forecast is looking like a treat — not a trick

ORLANDO, Fla. – I know, I know — those recent “cold fronts” haven’t exactly brought the chill we’ve all been waiting for. But this time, a strong cold front is set to arrive just in time for Halloween, finally bringing that fall feeling to kick off the spooky season.

Morning lows could dip into the 40s across northern counties like Marion and Flagler, with the rest of the region starting in the low to mid 50s Friday morning.

Long-range models are hinting at a potent front arriving Thursday, ushering in cooler air straight from the north and settling right over Central Florida just in time for Halloween.

According to the Climate Prediction Center’s long-range outlook, temperatures on Halloween are projected to run below average. For reference, the typical high for this time of year is around 81 degrees, so this will be a real taste of fall!

It’s quite the change from last year’s toasty Halloween, when highs hit the middle 80s with no rain in sight. This time around, we’re looking at dry, breezy, and refreshingly cool conditions — perfect for trick-or-treating.

By 6 p.m., temperatures should hover in the middle to upper 60s, sliding into the 50s through the night for all those late-night costume parties.

👻 A Look Back at Halloweens Past In Orlando

Halloween weather in Central Florida has run the gamut over the years:

  • 2023: Highs in the mid 80s, lows in the upper 60s — warm and dry.
  • 2022: A steamy 90-degree high with lows near 70 degrees.
  • 2021: A cool break at 75/59 degrees.
  • 1993: The coolest Halloween on record, topping out at just 66 degrees.
  • 2019: The hottest on record — a scorching 91 degrees.
Halloween's past

In Daytona Beach, the warmest Halloween on record came in 2019, when highs reached a toasty 89 degrees, while the coolest was back in 1993, topping out at just 65 degrees.

Over in Sanford, 2019 also brought the heat with a high of 91 degrees, while the chilliest Halloween dates all the way back to 1953, when temperatures only reached 67 degrees.

And in Leesburg, 2019 again stands out as the hottest Halloween on record, climbing to a sizzling 92 degrees. The coolest in recent memory came in 2021, when highs only reached 70 degrees, making for a refreshingly pleasant evening.

And believe it or not, Central Florida has seen its share of colder Halloweens, too. Some of the coldest lows on record across the region dipped into the 40s, most notably in 2012, 1993, and 1963 — the kind of Halloween nights that truly felt like fall had arrived.
