Here are the school closures in Central Florida due to severe weather concerns

Tuesday is a Weather Alert Day

Tuesday will be a Weather Alert Day at News 6, with severe weather expected to hit Central Florida in the afternoon and evening.

Due to these weather concerns, some schools in Central Florida have announced closures, event cancellations and/or early releases ahead of time.

The following is a list of these reported changes on Tuesday:

  • ALACHUA COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS
    • Closed on Tuesday
  • BREVARD PUBLIC SCHOOLS
    • All BPS after-school activities, athletics and extracurriculars are canceled for Tuesday. BPS After School Care will remain open and operate on a normal schedule.
  • COLLEGE OF CENTRAL FLORIDA
    • Closed on Tuesday for all sites, including the Ocala Campus, Citrus Campus, Levy Campus, Hampton Center, Appleton Museum and Vintage Farm, as well as online classes
    • Reopening planned on Wednesday morning for classes and all business operations, weather permitting
  • FLAGLER COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS
    • After-school activities, including athletics, will be canceled on Tuesday
    • Schools will observe regular classroom hours and release at their regularly scheduled time. Extended Day will also operate under normal hours
    • G.W. Carver Center and Flagler County Youth Center will observe regular hours of operation
    • Bus routes will remain in place as scheduled
  • LAKE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS
    • Schools will follow Wednesday early dismissal schedule on Tuesday to ensure students get home before “the worst of the storm begins”
    • The district will excuse absences for students who stay home due to the weather on Tuesday
    • Outdoor after-school activities, including sports games and night-school classes, are canceled on Tuesday
    • Extended Learning Centers will remain open
  • LAKE-SUMTER STATE COLLEGE
    • The college will close on Tuesday at 2 p.m. All classes and activities have been canceled
  • MARION COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS
    • Schools will be closed on Tuesday
  • ORANGE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS
    • All after-school activities have been canceled for Tuesday
    • This does not include Extended Day programs for middle and elementary schools. Those programs will operate but will have limited to no outdoor activity
  • OSCEOLA COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS
    • After-school athletic events and extracurricular activities at all district schools have been canceled on Tuesday
    • Extended Day and the 21st Century program will run as normal on Tuesday afternoon
  • POLK COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS
    • After-school activities and sports will be canceled on Tuesday
    • Schools scheduled to remain open during normal hours
  • SANTA FE COLLEGE
    • The college is monitoring the weather but plans to remain open on Tuesday
    • If plans change, an update will be provided at 10 a.m. on Tuesday here
  • SEMINOLE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS
    • All after-school activities, athletics and extracurriculars are canceled for Tuesday
    • Kid Zone and 21st Century programs will operate as scheduled, but will have no outdoor activities
  • UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA
  • VOLUSIA COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS
    • All after-school extracurricular and athletic activities on Tuesday have been canceled due to expected inclement weather, the district said.
    • Extended Day Enrichment Programs will operate as usual and will not have any outdoor activities.

The Florida Department of Education has a list of school districts and universities outside of Central Florida that are scheduled to be closed on Tuesday due to the weather.
