The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said Deltona Public Works turned the water off “but not before it caused significant flooding to nearby houses.”

Deputies are searching for the driver.

Video from the scene also showed crews working to restore power in the area.

No other details have been released.

It’s the second time in two days that a driver struck a fire hydrant and flooded nearby homes. On Tuesday, at least one Orlando home was flooded when a pickup truck slammed into a hydrant on Michigan Street at Conway Gardens Road.
