ORLANDO, Fla. – Hot and dry conditions on the backside of Bertha continue for Central Florida to round out the week before rain chances begin to creep back in for the weekend.
A ridge of high pressure in the upper levels of the atmosphere, mixed in with very dry air in the mid-levels, is the perfect recipe for a hot and dry setup across Central Florida. Expect only a few isolated showers between I-4 and I-75 around sunset and into the early evening as our sea breeze continues pushing inland. After 10pm, our neighborhoods are dry for the rest of the overnight.
Thursday
Dry air remains in place across Central Florida, limiting our chance for rain. With an onshore flow all day, a few showers will hover around the coast around sunrise. That rain chance shifts inland as the day rolls on with the sea breeze pushing westward. Moisture will be limited to get more than isolated showers to form along it. Highs will reflect the dry conditions, hitting the mid 90s with heat indices over 100ºF.
Into the Weekend
Starting on Friday, and progressing over the weekend, moisture begins to enter our atmosphere as the ridge of high pressure weakens and a trough begins to dig into the Southeast. This will increase our “feels like” temperatures and rain chances as we move through the weekend and into early next week. This will allow highs to back down to near normal values in the low 90s.
