ORLANDO, Fla. – The National Hurricane Center is now eyeing an area off the Spanish/Portuguese coast for the chance of tropical or subtropical development over the next week.
Forecast models are picking up on an non-tropical low forming just off their coastline over the next few days. There is a small chance that this low could begin to gain either tropical or subtropical characteristics over the weekend as it spins over the Atlantic. Chances are low as it will be tied up with frontal boundaries that it would need to shake off before gaining more tropical qualities. Once developed, this low will make a northeastern track towards the Spanish coastline. There are no other areas of potential development in the Atlantic Basin as of Thursday afternoon.
