ORLANDO, Fla. – Expect a gloomy day with cold temperatures, increasing winds and plenty of on-and-off rain.
Showers will be widespread, with a 60-90% chance of rain throughout Tuesday and through the overnight hours into early Wednesday morning. Many locations across Central Florida could rack up drought-denting rainfall with accumulations between 1-2 inches.
A chilly breeze will remain in place, with the winds picking up through Tuesday night, reaching 15-25 mph inland and 20-30 mph along the coast, with gusts potentially hitting 40-45 mph, especially in Volusia and Brevard counties.
Because of this, a Wind Advisory and a High Surf advisory will be issued for coastal communities.
Temperatures will stay chilly for Tuesday, with highs in the mid to upper 50s north of Osceola, and warmer temps in the upper 60s along the southern coast.
Tuesday night, the north winds will bring even colder air, dropping lows to the mid to upper 30s north and west of Orlando, with low 40s along the I-4 corridor.
A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect for Lake, Sumter, Marion, Flagler, Volusia, Seminole and Orange county through Wednesday morning as overnight lows combined with winds will make it feel like the mid 20s.
With the mix of rain and freezing temperatures, there will be a slight chance we could see some sleet mix in with the rain over the far northern areas (Marion, Flagler counties) late Tuesday night, though no accumulation is expected.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Marion County starting overnight Wednesday morning.
After sunrise on Wednesday, the showers will taper off, but the overcast skies and chilly north winds will keep temperatures well below normal, with highs in the low to mid 50s, and low to mid 60s along the coast, from Cape Canaveral southward.
Thursday
The unsettled weather will continue into Thursday, with another weak low-pressure system moving along a stalled front on Thursday, bringing scattered showers (40-50% chance) before clearing out into the evening.
Weekend
The driest and coldest part of the week returns by Friday and Saturday.
Saturday morning will bring widespread 30s, with lows in the low 40s along the southern coast. Even with more sunshine, high temperatures will still stay cool, with highs in the upper 50s for Lake and Volusia counties and low to mid 60s elsewhere.
A warming trend looks likely starting Sunday and into early next week, with the return of the 70s by Monday.
