Wekiva ‘Paint Out’ returns supporting artists by the river

19th annual event benefits local nonprofits

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – Wekiva Island is hosting its 19th annual Wekiva Paint Out, where artists from around the country visit Wekiva Island and Wekiva Springs to paint outdoors and capture the beautiful nature the park has to offer, according to a news release.

The event raises awareness and funds to protect the Wekiva River, with all proceeds from the event benefiting the Wekiva Wilderness Trust and Keep Seminole Beautiful, the release said.

Art enthusiasts can immerse themselves in creativity, community, and nature all in one place for the week-long event.

Those who cannot attend in person can visit the virtual exhibition, where they can browse and purchase art created during the event, all online, according to their website. Check out the artwork here.

Schedule

  • Feb. 26: Live auction — 7 p.m. Guests can bid and battle for their favorite pieces—and maybe get a deal—at this fast-paced, traditional art auction. Free to attend. Register here.
  • Feb. 28: Evening nocturne painting and pasta bar — 5 to 9 p.m. Watch the artists work at night at Wekiva Island and enjoy a special pasta bar for $14.95.
  • March 1: Quick Draw amateur competition — Noon to 2 p.m. Amateurs can paint alongside the pros and compete for a prize.
  • March 1: All-Inclusive Gala — 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, March 1. Celebrate the week with a curated meal, drinks, and a riverside atmosphere. $50 per person or $90 per couple. Tickets are available here.

“The Wekiva Paint Out has become a tradition not only for our artists but for the community,” Mary Weinaug, the event’s organizer and executive director of Keep Seminole Beautiful said in a statement. “It’s a celebration of this incredible natural resource we have in our own backyard. Everyone in Central Florida should stop by and watch these artists work for a few minutes and come away with a whole new outlook on the area and art.”

The Wekiva Paint Out runs from Feb. 24 to March 1. Guests can visit free of charge.
