14th annual art festival kicks off in heart of Sanford

SANFORD, Fla. – More than 60,000 are expected to visit downtown Sanford this weekend as the annual St. Johns River Festival returns.

The free festival will happen Saturday and Sunday, with over 125 art exhibitors setting up along the river and Lake Monroe. And new this year, the event features a sculpture tour that highlights over 14 public sculptures throughout downtown.

“We are thrilled to provide an opportunity for the community to engage directly with the incredible art and creativity displayed by so many gifted artists,” Kim House, president of the St. Johns River Festival of the Arts, said in a release.

Event proceeds will go toward helping the Art-for-Kids scholarship program that gives children the opportunity to attend art classes, according to organizers.

There will be artwork ranging from pottery to jewelry to paintings to check out as well as interactive workshops and live performances.
