ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – After a decade in business, an Orange County bar catering to the tabletop gaming community is closing for good.
Cloak & Blaster announced its plans to close in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

“This likely isn’t the first post you’ve read from a small business closing and it definitely won’t be the last,” the post read.
The post cited several reasons for the closure, including rising costs and a loss of business after changing locations.

“Since opening our doors at our (University of Central Florida) location in 2021, our food and beverage costs have skyrocketed over 300%,” the post said.
According to the business, the move came as the original location deteriorated, causing conditions that were “unsafe for employees and patrons alike.” However, the post said changes at the new location, such as an overhauled menu and updated gaming policies, were “not received well.”

The business also touched on debt accumulated during the pandemic.
“While some of these issues can be mitigated with good business, that’s in short supply in our post-pandemic world. Times are tough for everyone. We can’t remember the last time our bar was full, or when we had a wait list,” the post read.
The post did not announce an official closing date, saying only that one would be coming later in the week.
“Thank you to so many incredible staff, volunteers, and patrons who have worked over the years to help us breathe life into Cloak. Thank you for 10 years of unforgettable memories and the honor of a lifetime,” the post said.
