ORLANDO, Fla. – Irin King and Tukta Pinyo grew up in Thailand, helping their parents run their restaurants. Little did they know they would both partner up and open an eatery in Orlando years later.
King and Pinyo are the owners of Thai Spoon, which opened on Saturday at 3334 Curry Ford Road.

“This restaurant is a lifelong dream for both owners and their families,” King’s husband, Brian, said in a statement.
The space is cozy, with roughly 50 seats and five employees total running the eatery.

Thai Spoon serves iconic dishes such as pad thai and fried rice, but the first-generation Thai chefs are bringing traditional menu items as well like som tum and drunken noodles.
“What makes this restaurant different is the passion and knowledge of creating traditional Thai dishes,” Brian said in a statement.
Meanwhile, with this being the first restaurant the duo has opened, there are not currently any plans to build more Thai Spoon locations. However, with the support of the local Thai community, the owners are optimistic this will be a successful venture.
“The Thai community here in Central Florida is very tight-knit, so we actually have a lot of support even from competitors in the area, but I think that is the beauty of the Thai culture,” Brian said in a statement.
