Tijuana Flats, the Central Florida-based restaurant chain, announced last month that it closed several of its locations after being acquired by new owners.
Flatheads, LLC acquired the brand, though the company said it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

According to FinanceBuzz on Thursday, the company began suffering financial hardships after changes to its menus in 2021, which required more equipment and staff. This reportedly sparked higher costs and slower service for customers, ultimately eating into the chain’s bottom line.

FinanceBuzz announced that 40 restaurants were confirmed to close in 2024, including the following Florida locations:
- 14633 Miramar Parkway — Miramar
- 1371 S. University Drive — Plantation
- 1619 E. Sunrise Blvd. — Fort Lauderdale
- 5065 Old Dixie Hwy. — Oakland Park
- 6970 State Road 7 — Coconut Creek
- 431 S. Federal Hwy. — Pompano Beach
- 20401 State Road 7 — West Boca Raton
- 2089 Palm Beach Lakes Blvd. — West Palm Beach
- 4027 S. Dale Mabry Hwy. — Tampa
- 17501 Preserve Walk Lane, Unit 103 — Tampa
- 1635 S. Tamiami Trail — Sarasota
That being said, there are still plenty of Tijuana Flats restaurants to choose from in the Sunshine State.
The chain’s website lists at least 89 other locations that are still available across the state, including places in Central Florida like College Park, Altamonte Springs and Sanford.
