‘El Cilantrillo’ restaurant goes beyond flavor and cuisine, it’s a place for family

Hiram and Dianne Turull own restaurant chain

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – When you walk into the kitchen of El Cilantrillo, you can’t escape the smell of delicious Puerto Rican food.

“El Cilantrillo is a flavor of Latin culture. It’s from the cilantro that our ancestors used to season food,” Hiram Turull said.

The restaurant chain is owned by Hiram and Dianne Turull. Their newest restaurant is located at Kissimmee’s Old Town, making it one of the biggest Latin restaurants in the area and attracting thousands of visitors from around the world.

“That was a big challenge. We are very proud of being in Old Town so when they called us and said, ‘Hey, we want to have a Latino Puerto Rican restaurant in Old Town,’ I said, ‘Wow what an honor. What an honor to cater to tourists,’” Turull said.

Turull, who is a former banker, opened El Cilantrillo in 2017 with its first location in Kissimmee.

He said they run the business with their five children.

His wife, Dianne, explained how their children worked from the bottom to the top to show them what hard work is all about.

“It’s a challenge because you have to show your kids how to start from zero in a business. You have to learn as parents how to keep a business going forward and we want to leave that legacy for them,” Dianne said.

The Turull family said they hope to leave that same legacy for their grandchildren as well.

“It’s very important for us to have a family environment at El Cilantrillo so that families can enjoy their food in the ambiance,” Turull said.
