ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Four Keke Breakfast Cafes have closed temporarily and two permanently in the Central Florida area, according to a spokesperson for the restaurant chain.

The spokesperson told News 6 the closures are related to issues with a franchisee.

The two restaurants that closed permanently are both in Orlando and are off 431 S. Chickasaw Trail and 2433 S. Hiawassee Road, per the spokesperson.

“Chickasaw and MetroWest cafes have permanently closed after separating from the franchisee. To minimize impact, affected team members were given the opportunity to apply to nearby Keke’s Breakfast Cafe locations and we are happy to report that nearly all have been placed at other cafes,” the spokesperson said in a prepared statement.

Meanwhile, the four locations that are closed temporarily are being transitioned to a new franchisee, the spokesperson said. A reopening timeline was not provided.

Those are located at:

  • 345 W. Fairbanks Ave, Winter Park
  • 2209 E. Semoran Blvd, Apopka
  • 4225 W. Lake Mary Blvd, Lake Mary
  • 6526 Old Brick Road, Windermere

“We are focused on encouraging all involved parties to complete the necessary transactions swiftly so that the cafes can reopen and resume employing and serving the surrounding communities,” the spokesperson said in a prepared statement.

Meanwhile, the Orlando-based breakfast brand has more than 50 locations across the Sunshine State, per its website. It opened its first restaurant in 2006 and has since expanded across the U.S.

In 2022, Denny’s bought the brand for a deal worth more than $80 million, as News 6 has previously reported. However, Keke’s still operates independently, with its own leadership, marketing and development initiatives.

To add on, in December 2024, the brand announced its plans for expansion in 2025, revealing it has more than 140 cafes under development, according to a news release. There is one that is opening soon in the Central Florida area, in Melbourne off 7171 Lake Andrew Drive, per the restaurant’s website.

Keke’s is only open for breakfast and lunch and offers items such as waffles, pancakes, paninis and sandwiches.
