ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando shined Thursday night at the Michelin Guide Florida 2025 ceremony as over 50 restaurants were recognized.

For the first time, an Orlando eatery was awarded two stars — Sorekara, a Japanese cuisine restaurant at 4874 New Broad St. There is only one other restaurant in the state that has this distinguished recognition, and it is in Miami.

“In a world of uniformity, Sorekara proudly forges its own path. This Baldwin Park restaurant is unlike anywhere else you’ve been, offering a surprising and delightful culinary journey that revels in turning expectations on their head,” according to the Michelin Guide.

The restaurant serves a tasting menu that starts at $270 that is ever-changing. It is advertised as an intimate dining experience and is only open for one seating a few nights a week, according to its website.

To add on, Ômo by Jônt in Winter Park at 115 E. Lyman Ave was awarded a star. It serves an experiential tasting menu with high-end Japanese seafood. The restaurant offers an intimate experience as there are only 16 seats inside.

“This Winter Park restaurant echoes that spirit and sensibility (think classic French techniques married with pristine Japanese ingredients), albeit with a few Florida touches. The space allows for discrete moments at each meal, while three tasting menus run the gamut from tightly edited and more affordable to loaded with luxury ingredients,” according to the Michelin Guide.

Other restaurants across Orlando have retained their Michelin Star status such as Camille, Capa, Kadence, Natsu, Papa Llama, Soeski and Walt Disney World’s Victoria & Albert’s.

Other nods to Orlando include 15 restaurants receiving the Big Gourmand distinction, which is awarded to notable eateries that offer items at a reasonable price, according to a press release from Visit Orlando, a tourism promotion agency.

For four of the 15, it was the first time receiving this award:

  • Smokemade Meats + Eats — 1400 S. Crystal Lake Drive, Orlando
  • Coro — 3022 Corrine Drive, Orlando
  • Bánh Mì Boy — 1110 E. Colonial Drive, Orlando

The other eateries being named again include: The Ravenous Pig, Z Asian, Bombay Street Kitchen, Domu, Issan Zaap, Norigami, Otto’s High Dive, The Strand Food & Drink, Sushi Saint, Taste of Chengdu and Zaru, according to the Michelin Guide.

Meanwhile, the Michelin Guide, put out by the French tire manufacturer, first came to Florida in 2022.

The guide was first put out as a way for drivers to help plan their trips, according to the company, thereby increasing tire sales. In the 1920s, the guide started including information on restaurants, and the company began awarding stars in 1936, according to its website.

It has since become one of the most sought-after awards in the restaurant industry.

“Now recognized with one two-star restaurant, eight one-star, 15 Bib Gourmand and 35 Recommended restaurants, our destination’s dining landscape reflects the rich diversity of our community, with chefs and restaurateurs who consistently push boundaries and deliver exceptional experiences,” Visit Orlando President and CEO Casandra Matej said in a prepared statement.
