Wiping out a wasp’s nest the safe way

Step-by-step repair

ORLANDO, Fla. – We’ve gotten this question a lot: How do I get rid of wasps under my roofline without getting stung? Should I use a broom?

Nooo... just use a shooting spray!

We purchased:

Spectracide Wasp & Hornet Spray

Step 1

Buy a wasp spray that goes the distance. Spectracide shoots up to 26 feet. Make sure the can says it’s specifically for spraying a far distance so you don’t have to get close!

Step 2

Shake the can.

Step 3

Step back. Stand as far back as you can (in this case 26 feet). The wasps will be angry! And definitely don’t stand underneath the nest – the wasps will drop and the spray will drip.

Step 4

Fire. Spray until the nest and any lingering wasps are soaked. Give it a few minutes for the spray to kill them completely or make the rest fly away.

Step 5

Knock down the nest. You can do this with a broom handle or pole. Once it falls, scoop it up with a dustpan and throw it away.
