What will you do for Earth Day? 🌎

Hi, friends! 👋🏻

First of all, a gigantic THANK YOU for all your shout-out submissions, introducing us to the “helpers” in your communities! (And if you still have someone we should meet, submit that person here!)

I’m not sure if it snuck up on anyone else, but Earth Day is tomorrow -- and by that I mean Friday, April 22.

I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again: Over here on the “Something Good” team, we believe in more than just sitting back and watching the “good” in the world unfold. We want to join the effort, and would love to take this opportunity to encourage you, our beloved viewers and readers, to do the same!

What’s even more, we’d love to SEE what you’re doing. This can be the good that you’re participating in on a monthly basis, or what you’ll do for Earth Day. If you have a photo, consider submitting it through KSAT Connect. We’d love to see you, your family, or your friends, in action.

(If you’ve never used Pins before, go to this link -- then tap that orange button at the top right of your screen, that says Upload A Pin, and then select “Something Good” as your channel and category). Super easy!

And if you need some inspiration, you can always check out that Volunteer Match site I’ve mentioned in the past -- it’s so intuitive and simple to use. Volunteer Match helps you find the best options near where you live, that match with your interests, experience and availability. There are even virtual opportunities available. It’s a great resource.

My daughter and I were invited to a river cleanup as part of her Girl Scout troop, set for Saturday morning. My little girl is 6, and has never gotten to experience something like this. I feel like the pandemic put a halt to these kinds of things, until just recently, really, so I’m excited to hype this up and teach her about making a difference, even through something as seemingly small as this. I realize we’re just one group of people working at one park, but think about how powerful it would be if everyone took action like this.

So, what will you do?

Are you heading over to that Volunteer Match site as we speak (type?) 😉

While you mull that over, here’s a look at some of the videos we’ve uploaded to our YouTube page lately.

A few things practically guaranteed to put a smile on your face:

If you’re looking for even more Something Good, we’re always “up” on Facebook and YouTube!

Can’t wait to see those Earth Day photos!

Until next time,

💛 Michelle Ganley
