Rare two-toed sloth born at Wild Florida Adventure Park

Animal sanctuary in Central Florida successfully breeds pair

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Wild Florida Adventure Park is one of a handful of zoos around the world to have successfully bred a pair of two-toed sloths. On May 22, the first baby was born to the attraction's young breeding pair, Guy and Anna.

The male cub, named George, will spend the first nine months of life sleeping in the arms of his mother as she easily swings from branch to branch.

"We are in love with George," Wild Florida co-owner, Sam Haught stated in a press release. "We're so excited to have this opportunity to watch this little guy grow and interact with our guests at Wild Florida."

Guy and Ana were introduced in 2013 at Wild Florida Wildlife Park. After confirming that Ana was with child, she was removed from their combined exhibit for the gestation period of 11 to 12 months.

Wild Florida is a 13-acre natural sanctuary located at the headquarters of the Everglades, along the shores of Lake Cypress in Central Florida. In addition to two-toed sloths, the reserve also features animal interactions with tamarins, lemurs, and alligators on the property.
