Central Florida attorney Jose Baez will represent Aaron Hernandez as the former NFL player attempts to overturn his conviction for a 2013 murder, News 6 has confirmed.

Baez will also represent Hernandez in an unrelated double homicide case, sources tell News 6.

Baez recently met with Hernandez at a Massachusetts prison where the former New England Patriots tight end is serving a life sentence for shooting and killing Odin Lloyd. Baez reached an agreement to represent Hernandez Tuesday afternoon, News 6 has learned.

Baez is best known for representing Casey Anthony, the Orlando mother who was acquitted of murdering her 2-year-old daughter Caylee in 2008.  During Anthony’s trial, Baez told jurors the child accidentally drowned in a backyard swimming pool.

In April 2015, a jury convicted Hernandez of fatally shooting Lloyd at an industrial park about a mile from the football player’s home.  At the time of his murder, Lloyd had been dating the sister of Hernandez’s fiancé.

Hernandez, 26, is also charged with murdering two other people during a drive-by shooting.   According to prosecutors, Hernandez killed Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado following an altercation inside a Boston nightclub in 2012.

Hernandez, who also played for the University of Florida, pleaded not guilty to all three murders.

(CORRECTION:  An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that a different attorney was representing Hernandez in the drive-by shooting case. )
