UVALDE COUNTY, Texas – Another person has died at the hospital after a crash that killed 12 others and left two others injured in Uvalde County Wednesday afternoon, KRGV reported after speaking to a Texas Department of Public Safety official.

A group of seniors from the First Baptist Church in New Braunfels were involved, church officials confirmed.

KSAT-TV reports that the head-on crash between a pickup truck and a small van happened on Highway 83 near Garner State Park in Concan, just before 12:30 p.m.

Investigators said the truck heading north veered into the southbound lanes and crashed into the bus.

The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed 14 people were in the bus and the driver was the only occupant in the truck. Only one person in the bus and the driver of the pickup survived the crash.

One woman was taken to the San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical condition. The driver of the pickup and another woman were taken to University Hospital. The woman at University Hospital died a few hours later.

The driver of the pickup is in stable condition.

All lanes of the highway were closed for several hours between the park and Texas Highway 127 in Concan.

Church officials said the group was returning to New Braunfels from a Baptist encampment near Leakey, Texas, where they were attending a retreat.

All events at the church were canceled Wednesday night, with the sanctuary to be open for prayer and support.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
