Over $21 million raised for Florida Disaster Fund in the wake of Hurricane Ian

Money goes to groups that help individuals with disaster recovery

ORLANDO, Fla. – Money is pouring into Florida’s Disaster Fund, a private fund run by the state to help with response and recovery activities in the wake of Hurricane Ian.

The governor and the first lady have been touting the Florida Disaster Fund to get more people to donate. On Sunday, Casey DeSantis announced that the fund had raised over $21 million in 48 hours, including major donations across the state and the country.

The money from the fund goes to groups that serve individuals within their communities.

To donate to the fund, go to the Volunteer Florida website.

Nearly four dozen people have been reported dead because of Hurricane Ian, one of the strongest storms to ever make landfall in the United States. Nearly 850,000 homes and businesses are still without electricity as of Sunday.
