10-foot shark turns up in Florida lake

Onlookers puzzled by shark close to shore

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – An unusual sight caught on camera in South Florida as a 10-foot-long shark was seen swimming in a lake just off the Intracoastal Waterway in Hollywood.

The lake is connected to the ocean and appears to be the shark’s new favorite spot, with onlookers reporting the sharp-toothed creature doesn’t seem to mind being there.

“He’s not going anywhere, he keeps coming back,” said Drew Cariaso, who lives near the lake. “This morning he went back down the lake and he’s coming back up again so, we’ll see what he does.”

People who live along the lake say they’ve seen dolphins and plenty of fish over the years, but never a shark. Scientists say it’s pretty unusual for sharks to come that close to shore.
