CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. – A Florida sheriff’s deputy rushed in to help save a 6-month-old baby who was trapped following a deadly crash.
Investigators said a motorcyclist going more than 100 mph slammed into a car carrying a mother, her 3-year-old daughter and a 6-month-old, Lola.
Body camera video shows Sgt. Dave Musgrove, of the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, arrive at the scene and rush to pull the family to safety.
“Come here, sweet girl. Come here,” he’s heard saying on video.
Lola was trapped and not breathing until Musgrove began chest compressions. She remains in the hospital, but is expected to be OK.
“He will always be our hero. My entire family, both sides, we have undying gratitude to this man,” said Lisa Foley, the grandmother.
The motorcyclist who hit the family’s car died at the scene.
