Last year, Florida lawmakers paved the way for drivers in the state to get their hands on a new Margaritaville-themed specialty plate.
It comes courtesy of HB 403, which took effect back in October and introduced several other new specialty plate designs, including ones based on Universal Orlando and The Villages.

Funds from Margaritaville plate sales are set to go toward the organization “Singing for Change,” which provides grants to nonprofits to help with recovery efforts in areas impacted by disasters.
However, the plates weren’t immediately placed up for sale. Instead, each plate design has up to two years to sell 3,000 vouchers before the plates will begin to be manufactured.
If the pre-sale period ends without an organization hitting that target, their respective specialty plate will instead be deauthorized, meaning it won’t actually be produced.

The good news for Parrotheads is that the Margaritaville plate is already around two-thirds of the way toward meeting its quota.
According to the FLHSMV, the Margaritaville plate has sold 1,975 presale vouchers as of Dec. 30, meaning there are only 1,025 left to go statewide before the plates will start being made.
In fact, the full list of presale voucher sales as of Dec. 30 is as follows:

Each plate is expected to cost an additional $15 to $25 a year, and part of the proceeds go to a particular organization associated with the respective plate.
Drivers can order presale vouchers for these plates through their local tax collector’s office.
To do so online, drivers must type in their license plate number (or the recipient’s if the voucher is being sent as a gift).
